Globe Tattoo Supports Efren Peñaflorida, A True Hero
Not all heroes come in colorful spandex costumes, super powers, suits of armor or shields of nationalistic symbolism. Not all heroes fall in epic battles against an unstoppable evil. All heroes, however, make a significant difference in the lives of people through great sacrifice and hardship by sticking to a belief and fighting for a cause.
Efren Peñafloria, at 28 years old, is already hero by anyone’s standard. His mission is to bring education to out-of-school youth. That, my friends, is a mighty tall order, yes, but that doesn’t stop him. Efren, like a field general, leads a group of 10,000 volunteers called the Dynamic Teen Company. For the past 12 years, they’ve been bringing education to kids in the slums via their “kariton klasrum,” which is a collection of books, pencils and other school stuff transported by a pushcart.
More than just reading and writing, Mr. Peñaflorida also teaches basic hygiene, and values so that the kids grow up to lead better quality lives. He’s like that teacher from Dangerous Minds, only in real life and in a much grittier setting.
Globe Tattoo Broadband joins CNN to rally in support of Efren Peñaflorida. In the event held at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, Globe Tattoo provided 3G mobile Broadband Internet to enable the attendees to cast their votes onsite for Efren to be the next CNN Hero of the Year!
Even though the Filipino people endure hardship after hardship, tragedy after tragedy, Efren Peñaflorida serves as a reminder to all of us that with a little hope, some elbow grease and a truckload of determination, anyone can overcome absolutely anything.
